Colby had decided that since she was going to England soon she wanted to spend time out and about. She went for walks every day regardless but now she was spending even more time outside of her house. It wasn't that she wanted people to notice her. It was more that she wanted to see the parts of LA that she loved before she had to go away for a few months.
Her morning started with a book tucked under her arm and heading down to her favorite starbucks. She went there often enough that the staff knew her name. She smiled at the cashier as she ordered a cappuccino with extra whipped cream. She waited for her name to be called out and grabbed her drink. She chose to sit at a table outside. She set her drink down and pulled open her copy of Les Miserable. She was halfway done with it and she was in love.

Kate took pride in being able to say that she loved coffee more than her own mother. Why? Well, she did. She absolutely despised her mother, resented her for leaving her behind. Kaitlin Cole had gone to New York to chase her dreams, leaving her only child in a the middle of nowhere with a dream killer and, eventually, a stepmonster. When she left, Kate started drinking coffee, in a rush to act more mature. She knew growing up too fast would alarm her father, and that is why, as soon as she was old enough, she was wearing a ton of black shit on her eyes, dying her hair, and getting things pierced. She even had two tattoos, but good luck finding those.
Today, with Kate being in one of her terrible I'm-still-a-teenager-so-I-have-angst moods, the eighteen-year-old headed down to Starbucks. She was in need of caffine and coffee beans. She entered, bring an air of tension into the normally easygoing place, texting rather angrily on a her splurged iPhone 5. She really couldn't afford it, but her dad was still sending her money out of the 'kindness' of his heart, so she figured she might as well get something she actually liked out of him. She ordered white chocolate iced mocha, something sweet, but cold. Like her. After recieving her order, she sat down. She wasn't far from some brunette who was reading a book that that musical she hadn't bothered to see was based off of. Kate huffed, wishing to attract the girl's attention and strike up some sort of conversation.
