Alex stood in the bathroom, down the hall from his office, alone. The water was running in the sink in front of him, as he held his two pills in his hand. God how he hated his job. This was not in his plans of life. Being a pill popping professional asshole, was not living his dream. This job took up most of his time, so he could never write much for his book. That book he wanted to finish before he died, it wasn't looking to good.
He had wanted to write a book about his life experiences. He found them pretty interesting, and he hoped maybe he could help other people with the same experiences. To tally up everything, he killed his girlfriend over 10 years ago, he's a pill popper, he also writes gossip for a paycheck, and is a narcissistic schizophrenic. Just when you think life can't get much worse, one look at Alex will challenge those thoughts.
The funniest part about his life, according to him, is the fact that he has a ton of dirt himself. Probably more dirt than the stars he writes about. But no one would ever think, "Hey the guy doing the interview is the actual liar." It makes Alex laugh any time he thinks about it. Literally.
He popped the pills in his mouth, and cupped his hand to get some water to swallow them down. He had an interview today with Riley Blackwood. Alex didn't get what was so great about him, and he also didn't care. Just another day in the life of a gossip reporter. The enquirer paid well, but Alex was seriously not happy with this job. Nonetheless, he had an interview to get to.
He walked toward the interview room. He personally hated the live interviews. Who the hell thought this would be a good idea. In their defense, they didn't know Alex would be drugged up for this. Alex walked into the room and saw the cameras set up, refreshments table, touch up artists, and the two chairs. They did the works for Riley Blackwood it seemed. Alex sat in his chair, and was prepared for Riley to walk in. "When he comes in, we need to start rolling immediately. Alright guys?" he nodded at the crew for understanding. This was going to be fun.

Riley was anything but thrilled about being caked with makeup, placed in a chair, and interrogated for a good thirty minutes. No. This wasn’t part of the job description. It said “actor,” which meant he played roles on a set while cameras filmed him from every direction. This was a celebrities job, not his. Unfortunately for Riley the two came hand in hand. It was nearly impossible to escape the fate of stardom at this point in his life. Being Xander’s son did little to calm the nerves of the young, budding Hollywood celebrity. He’d rather be anywhere else but here. Maybe drinking a Piña colada by the pool, read a magazine or watch some TV on his large flatscreen panasonic 3D television set. Yeah, that sounded so much better than sitting on some couch like a psychiatric patient. He gritted his teeth and stared out the limo window, his sunglasses causing the outskirts of Los Angeles to appear in a sort of black tint. Riley fussed with the hem of his shirt and jacket, loosening and tightening his tie every few minutes. Why was he so nervous? Of course, he hadn’t done a real interview in a very long time, but still. It wasn’t a reason to get bent out of shape over such things. At the same time, he knew the power of inverviewers and the power of his fanbase. This would hit national television. He could see it now: “Riley Blackwood finally agrees to an interview after 8 years in silence.” Silence his ass.
They reached the back door of the studio and the driver exited, leaving Riley alone in the back seat. He gulped nervously and looked around, cautious about any fans that might have followed him via the license plate. But, to his luck, no one seemed out and about this afternoon. The coast was clear.
Riley slowly stepped out of the car he came in, hugging his jacket close to his body. People didn’t see him around that often so he wasn’t a public sight, this being a blessing and a curse in many ways. Some people, like the boys of One Way, could go around town and not worry about a hoarde of fans piling in after them. They were a common spectacle and while newly famous, didn’t have much to worry about. Riley? Well, he wasn’t that lucky.
The moment he entered backstage Riley was handed off to five stylists, each of which professed in different parts in making him “gorgeous.” Riley began to cough as they pressed powder on his face, squealed as they pulled at his hair, yelped when one of them accidentally stepped on his foot, and just… pretty much gave into the torture after a while. Riley groaned and pulled away from the ladies (or men?) who threw him at a wardrobe, snapping their fingers for him to dress as quickly as he could. And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why Riley Blackwood detested interviews.
“Go. They’re waiting for you,” said one of the very gender confused people who’d picked out his tie. Everything but pleased, Riley shuffled out onto the stage as a sudden roar of screams and hollers caught him so offguard he almost fell backwards in surprise. Riley couldn’t hear anything anymore, and he couldn’t tell if Alex had introduced him or not, but it really didn’t matter. If the man wanted to shake his hand, Riley wouldn’t do so. The screams didn’t die down as Riley took a seat, crossing his legs and staring at his interviewer without even a smile to the audience. He just looked at Alex with an expression that said “make this quick or I will kill you.”

Alex began to tap his foot, not wanting to take more time than needed to get this over with. He was drugged up and impatient. So basically, Riley needed to hurry up. Alex nervously fixed his tie, looking around to see when the tall man would walk in. He finally saw him walking into the room, so Alex gave a nod to begin filming. He hoped that Riley didn't expect a hug or handshake, Alex only did that when he interviewed women. Alex's dislike for male stars , didn't help the situation either.
He fixed himself on the chair, and looked up in Riley's direction. "Hello Mr. Blackwood. It's nice to finally have you in an interview. First time in what? Twenty years?" He smiled sarcastically. It was a pap's job to do their research, which Alex had done thoroughly. He knew it had been a while since Riley had been in this position. He was determined to make this interview the best one of Riley's career. Tough questions were always fun. And knowing how melodramatic these stars were, he wouldn't be surprised if Riley got upset, threw a fit, and stormed off the set. Alex would have to compose himself if Riley did something like that. What a treat that would be.
Smiling again, Alex went in for another question. "So, you just completed filming for Musical High School. The tween movie set to air on Disney channel in about two days. Correct?" Alex nodded and went on with the rest of his question. "There are intense rumors going around about the behind the scenes aspect of the movie. Such as off screen romances, temper tantrums, And so on. People would even go as far to say that your voice was not used for the vocal scenes. Any comment?" Alex finished, putting on a serious face. Riley had to know these questions were to get under his skin. Alex was not trying to hide it from Riley in any way. His job was to make him upset. And he was only just getting started.
"Personally, the off screen romance is believable. It happens all the time, you know? I wouldn't be surprised if that happened to be true. But, as far as not using your voice, wouldn't that be lying to your fans Riley?" Alex tilted his head in a "matter of factly" way. He just hoped to get a reaction. It would make for a very nice article, which meant a bigger paycheck and more pills.

Riley just more or less wanted to know what this faggot was onto. When the crowd finally calmed themselves, Riley began to pluck at the loose strings of his jacket nonchalantly, paying little attention to Alex or anything else going on around him. The 23-year-old actor had little time for games, and he’d hoped Alex would set up a serious interview. Alas, this wasn’t in the cards for today, forcing Riley to bitterly withstand another jeering and cruel interrogation. It wasn’t fair! What had he done to all these television hosts? Why did they want to see him sit and writhe unpleasantly in his chair? It was uncalled for.
Alex got onto the wrong foot the moment he opened his big, fat mouth. Twenty years? No. “I would have been three. So no. Not twenty years.” Riley smiled tightly at the paparazzi asshole and grabbed the cup of water by his chair, taking a sip mostly because he was upset and nervous. If he had trusted Alex, he might have gone on to explain why he didn’t like interviews and why he’d avoid them like the plague. Unfortunately for Riley’s honest intentions, this wasn’t the place to get comfortable. His manager told him he couldn’t just get up and storm out, that he had to keep his temper and at least sit through 30 minutes of this stupid, stupid show.
Riley nodded in the middle of Alex’s sentence, taking another sip and only imagining where this could go. Everyone knew Riley hated his contract with Disney. They dressed him up in stupid costumes, gave him a basketball and told him to dribble around the court while singing. At the beginning, Riley would get so tired and out of breath he’d fall on the floor and give up for the day. But mid-sip, Riley suddenly choked, almost pouring water all over him and Alex. Romance?! The boy put the cup down on the chair and coughed harshly, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand. “I haven’t a clue who you’re talking about,” he gagged, trying to get the water out of his lungs, “but there were no ‘off-screen’ romances. Sorry to bum you out.” Having affairs with cast members was one of the worst things you could do to yourself. Riley rubbed his temples in frustration after finally coming down from the near-death choking experience. “The temper tantrums were necessary. They put mayo on my pastrami sandwich.” Riley was allergic to mayonnaise, and although that wasn’t the God honest truth as to why he caused such problems on set, it would do. Some of the audience chuckled (probably thinking him a spoiled brat) while others gasped, obviously knowing from some source Riley’s food issue.
His blue eyes hardened angrily at Alex. How dare he question the legitimacy of his film! “No. I sang. And they only had to do voice overs when there was off-screen noise that messed with the scene audio.” That was true, especially because they were right in the way of tour groups coming to the set for, well, tours! And just to kill him even more, Disney allowed a select group of people (through a competition, of course) to view the cast of the movie on set. Riley absolutely hated that afternoon because they got nothing done, and the girls would not shut up screaming. Fuck Alex. Riley left the fan comment unattended, not wanting to belittle or support the crazy bitches who thought rolling his limo over was fun.

Nodding at Riley, Alex began to speak again. "Well, I think we both now what I meant Riley. It just has been a long time since we saw you in an interview. I guess you came back to give the fans what they want eh?" Alex was already annoyed with Riley. He kept shooting him looks, as if Alex would be scared. Riley had nothing on Alex. Besides that, Alex could write an article enough to make Riley crawl into a hole. But, he'd start with this interview. What the crowd didn't know, was that on the notepad Alex was holding, he had questions that could make anyone squirm. Alex had a sharp aim, and his target was Riley. Metaphorically of course. Alex meant no long term harm.
Alex wanted to laugh in Riley's face when he choked on his water. Alex knew Riley and Natalie weren't romantically involved. The annoying woman that worked with Riley made this clear every time she popped up to Alex's office, begging for him to write an article about her. Alex just needed something to make Riley get upset. It was his job. "Well, let's just say you move on quickly. Your track record for romance is a steady on. First Laci, which we were all very sorry to hear about that scandalous breakup." Alex nodded. His sympathy was fake of course, he was the person that wrote the article about Laci's secret relationship. He wasn't sorry at all. He was actually pretty happy with how the article turned out. "But, sorry to burst your fan's bubbles, you're engaged now. But we'll get into that later, Right Riley? He smiled. Yes, that would become the topic of discussion later on into their interview.
Alex was seriously beginning to get tired of these looks from Riley. He just kept doing them, like Alex didn't notitce. Well he did, and he didn't like the looks at all. "Oh god. Not mayo. Alex said sarcastically. "Easy way to fix that is making your own sandwiches." He smiled at the crowd and there were a few scattered snickers. And that folks, is why he didn't like Hollywood. The men acted like complete women. Why couldn't he make his own damn sandwiches. Maybe you would not have to throw tantrums if you handled things yourself. Duh.
"Well Riley, I understand. You do all the vocals, until they tell you that you don't sound like a high school boy?" Alex smiled. How does that look? Twenty three year old playing a sixteen year old. Odd thing as far as Alex is concerned. He moved on, changing the topic. They didn't have a lot of time. And if Alex wanted to properly embarass Riley, he would have to fit as many questions in this interview as possible.
"So, besides mhs, you're doing other movies. We do know that much. But it seems your life is more of a drama than your movies are. I think our hearts broke completely when your bear was burned. Any comment on that?" Alex asked. He was going to get some kind of comment from Riley. "The person that burned it is a friend of your ex girlfriend Laci. Any hard feelings?" Alex was wishing he had some angry things to say. It would please him if Riley came of as an ass. Alex would refrain from bringing up Riley's sad past, because even though Alex was a mean man, he still had standards. Tag: Kellin/Riley Word Count: 596
