she felt so weird being here. being here by herself. she wasn't use to large crowds, but she hoped no one would recognize her with the mask held to her face. lily was not use to crowds of this size. she was more comfortable elsewhere, in comfortable clothes, than in a mini dress that she adored so much. she just hoped this ball was worth the trouble. maybe it would help her out of her comfort zone and become more open than shy. which was hard. hard for her to do any of it.
lily felt more at home, at home. with her siblings around her. they lived in a big house, which was surprising that they were able to afford just a pretty place, but they were all able to fit in there with enough room for all of them. but life has been hard for all of them. since the passing of their father, of a broken heart. it was finally time he passed. he was miserable and none of them were able to help him. they couldn't find their mother. it was pointless now, there was no hope in finding her anyways. no hope to save the family they once all adored with each other around the dinner table, now it has two place settings missing. one on each side of the table, one for their father and the other for their mother. it was too good to be true, really. moving to america from scotland. the american dream swept her off her feet and left the family she created. lily couldn't understand why she left, she felt as if she was the one to blame for it. for the sake of being the youngest child of the family. but she was told to not worry about it.
the party. it was so much for her to take it. she kept thinking back about how her father would think she was beautiful in the the dress she wore. a pink mini dress with ruffles. with light tights with hearts scattered over them. she stood there in the middle of the room, in the middle of the crowd of people. staring at everyone around her. she had no idea who these other people were. she was scared. scared that something would just come out at her for nothing. she wasn't use to these type of gatherings. how was anyone use to these things, anyways. she was still the bottom of the food chain, it was surprising even to her that she received an invitation to this. she just hoped it was worth it coming to this. because this may be the only thing she is ever going to come out like this, ever again. besides art showings of her artwork.

Sammie stared at herself in the mirror. She was in her room, holding a dress. The dress was black, with a very thin strap to hold it up. The dress ended just above her knees, with ruffles are the bottom. Sammie thought it was pretty. As soon as she had gotten the invitation to the masquerade ball, she went shopping. She had been lucky. This was the third dress she had looked at, and she had knew it was perfect. After putting on the dress, she quickly put the finishing touches on her hair. Her hair was naturally wavy, so she just played up her waves, and let her hair fall down her head, pass her shoulders, and down to the middle of her back. She thought she looked great. She put on some make-up, she didn't want to over do it.
Taking one last look at herself in the mirror, Sammie left her room and headed down the stairs. She danced into the kitchen where her father was. Her father was taking her to the party, through he wasn't staying. While that scared Sammie a little, she was also excited. This was going to be her first real party without her family. She picked up her mask; it was sparkly and black that covered her eyes and the top of her nose. "I'm ready to go," she told her dad. Soon the pair were off.
Sammie couldn't believe her eyes. Everything looked wonderful. She couldn't believe she was actually here. She was so busy looking at everything around her, she didn't see the person in front of her, and she soon run into someone. "Sorry," Sammie cried. "I wasn't looking where I was going!"

as she stood there staring at the party, she wondered who everyone really was, hiding under their masks. she kept hers close to her face for the sake that she was nervous as hell to even be there. she didn't really want to be noticed to anyone as she was basically a nobody in hollywood. but put her a place with heart and she would be content and more open about anything. most people would even know who she might have been for in the art world she went by briar graham, not lily graham. but this wasn't the art world, and this wasn't an art gallery or museum. this was the real world at a masquerade ball, with a whole lot of stars around her. it was a big difference for her. she was fidgeting more and more in her dress. she just stood there glancing all around. and while she did that, someone managed to run right into her. she was little annoyed about as everyone should be watching where they were going. just everyone donned masks didn't mean it made them blind and unworthy of watching where they were walking.
lily turned to see the person who had ran into her, another party guest. another person she didn't know. and another person she didn't really want to talk to you, at least not until her nerve calmed down to the point where she actually felt comfortable. lily kept her mask to her face for the time being. she didn't know what to say to this person, though she really did. but she didn't want to mean about it. what she really wanted to say was something mean in scottish, but then again that probably wouldn't be too nice to this person who obviously didn't know where they were going as they stared at all the decorations in the room. "everyone seems to be doing that lately," she managed to say to the girl. trying to be nice and trying to get back to being by herself was going to be a bit harder than she had thought.

Sammie tilted her head when the girl spoke. "Doing what? Running into you? I really didn't mean to. I was just looking at the decorations. There's so many! I..." Sammie trailed off, realizing that the girl probably didn't want to hear her life story. Sammie looked around again, this standing still so she didn't ran into anyone else. She looked back at the other girl. "It's just so wonderful here!" Sammie was in awe of the place, and excited for the night, and through she would never admit it, she was a tiny bit nervous, if only because her family wasn't there.
The nineteen year old had never been to a party before. She had always been with either one of her parents or siblings. So this was a new thing for her. She didn't really mind through. She had been looking forward to this since getting the invitation. And she had no doubt she would meet new people, maybe even make some new friends. Sammie was a very friendly and open person. She just loved being around people. But before her night could really begin, she wanted to make sure the other girl was really okay.
Sammie looked at the girl carefully. She was sure she had never meet her, but Sammie couldn't really tell because of the mask. Through it was a little annoying not knowing who someone was because of the masks, it was really exciting, not knowing who everyone really was.

lily put on an annoyed face when the girl answered. luckily her mask hid her face from her. she wasn't in the mood to talk to someone who barely paid much attention to the surroundings around them, with people about. "no i meant looking at all of the decorations," she said under her breath in annoyance. lily wondered why she even bothered coming to the masquerade ball if she didn't even know any one here, and it wasn't like she meet some guy like in cinderella or something. that would have been something to talk about. meeting a nice fellow with both people wearing their masks covering their faces and then just falling for each like true love. except lily had already encountered true love, didn't she? wasn't lucifer her true love? and yet she fell out of pace with him. she left him in boston when her family picked up and moved, in hopes of making their father become better. to make him stop the suffering of a broken heart, and yet that didn't work either. guess lily was just in her own little world dreaming of the things that weren't going to happen in her life. at least not tonight, maybe not ever.
lily watched the girl as she stared up at everything above the crowd of people gathered all around. she knew it was nicely decorated, it had to be. people of high status were all about the glamor of things and everything being of high expectations. so everything just had to be perfect. lily was like that with her drawings and paintings. making sure everything was right to the exact area of where they were. one drop or miss pencil mistake things were just out of place and had to be started over again to perfection. lily knew it must have taken the work crew hours to just make sure everything was perfect to everyone's standards and for a nice night out for every one who was just everyone in the hollywood fame.
