Claire didn't care much for dresses. They just weren't something that she cared to wear. She preferred jeans over anything. But there were still those times when you couldn't avoid dressing up, and this was one of those times.
Claire had never been to a masquerade before, but she knew the point was to dress up with a mask. Of course Claire first choice would have been a Halloween mask, but she doubted that would have been acceptable and so she had found an elegant silver and gold mask and had centered her outfit around that.
Now she stood in the doorway of the room, awkwardly looking around. There was nothing particularly out of place about her, but she didn't feel anything like herself, and anyway how was she supposed to find anybody she knew if she couldn't tell who was who?
She walked further into the room, still looking around, hoping that she could find someone she knew.
